"Leonel's" deputies doubt there are sufficient votes for reelection in the Congress

SD. Two deputies from the tendency of former President Leonel Fernandez doubted yesterday that reelection could pass in the National Congress because it does not have sufficient votes to achieve it.
This was expressed separately by Victor Sanchez and Lupe Nuñez, who were consulted on this issue.
Sanchez stressed that the "Leonelists" are tested because they have even participated in meetings, whose photographs have been published by the media. "I ask you, how would a Constitutional reform pass in the National Congress when Leonel Fernandez has 16 Senators, with 55 deputies and counting, because they are integrating others that were not there such as René Polanco and Juan Carlos Quinones?", he said.
He said that with their statements, the re-electionists offer "inflated" information because there are only 98 deputies from the PLD.
He referred to the previous statements by his re-electionist peers who have a legislative proposal ready to modify the Constitution and which they hope that the Political Committee of the Dominican Liberation Party (PLD) will decide on this issue in order to submit it to the Congress.
He believes that with their statements they are trying to intimidate others because the issue is not of the competence of the PLD leadership. "Also, we who support Leonel, in 2011 looked for as many as 2 million signatures for reelection. In other words they are completely within their rights," he pointed out.
He coincided with Deputy Lupe Nuñez, who said that at times you might want something but reality is something else, as he referred to the fact that reelection does not fit in the National Congress. He said that last week 56 deputies met with Fernandez. He does not believe that Medina wants to be re-nominated.
They have a proposal ready
Yesterday, seven deputies who support reelection revealed that they now have a legislative proposal ready to modify the Constitution and that they are only waiting for the Political Committee of the Dominican Liberation Party (PLD) to take a decision on the issue.
Elpidio Baez, who stood in as spokesman, Orfelina Almonte, Jesus Martinez Alberti (Yaco), Tulio Jimenez, Juan Suazo, Julio Brito and Gertrudis Ramirez said that reelection is backed by a majority of the PLD leadership, so that he believes that this party organ is not being convened to deal with the issue. They said that there are more than 50 deputies that support the re-nomination of Danilo Medina and that they were commissioned to offer the press conference.
They accused Senator Adriano Sanchez Roa of defying authority because he said that he would not vote in favor of reelection even though the Political Committee so decided.
