Mary Pelaez warns she "has cards up her sleeves"
The accused dissociates herself from any relation with Figueroa Agosto

SANTO DOMINGO. Mary Pelaez Frappier, accused of being a front person for the fugitive Jose Figueroa Agosto, warned that she had cards up her sleeve and that she would take them out during the trial process.
After being notified in the Second Chamber of the Penal Court of the Court of Appeals in the National District of the confirmation of the order of preventive custody against her, she did not offer detail about what she has hidden but she did say that everything would come out one day.
"If they are trying to solve the problem of drug trafficking with me, I think they are way off the mark", she said in reference to the investigation being carried out by the authorities.
Pelaez was questioned about whether she feels that some mistake has been committed in the case of Figueroa Agosto.
"To err is human, perhaps it was my mistake at one time, when they asked me if I was a friend of Figueroa Agosto", she said after saying that even though she knew him they were not friends nor did she sleep with him.
Pelaez is in prison at the Najayo Prison facility, where she was sent by a judge at the request of the District Attorney for the National District, who accuses her of money laundering.
The accused was taken yesterday under strict security conditions to the court, where she was told of the sentence that orders her to remain in custody. Pelaez is defended by lawyer Jose Rafael Ariza Morillo.
