Police arrest the killers of journalist Claudio Nasco

The National Police reported that the incident was over a RD$25,000 debt

SANTO DOMINGO. The National Police reported yesterday that they have arrested the young men who admitted being those responsible for the murder of the Cuban born commentator Claudio Nasco. Oscar Perez (Yandel), 19; Luis Manuel Estevez Ponciano (Macuto or Anderson), 20; and Joel Rafael Miliano Rodriguez (Pateo), 18, will be arraigned on murder charges.

The Police spokesman, Colonel Jacobo Mateo Moquete, noted during a press conference that the men arrested had withdrawn money from two ATMs with credit and debit cards belonging to Nasco, after committing the crime.

"The defendants, upon being interrogated alleged that they made contact with the journalist Nasco, after he had talked on his cell phone with Perez (Yandel), in order to get together and share that sort of place, just as they had done before," he explained.

He described how "Yandel" and Nasco met at a commercial plaza and later went to a cabana. "Yandel" carried a knife and a toy pistol full of cement and a roll of adhesive tape.

The accused told police that when they arrived at the cabana there was a violent scene, caused by "differences" over an alleged debt of RD$25,000.

"In the investigative process it was established that Nasco arrived at the cabana mentioned around 7:55 at night, and did not request any additional service to the payment of the use of the place," said the Police spokesman.

It will be recalled that Nasco was found bound and gagged last Friday night (13 December) in the Jacuzzi of room number 11 of the Chevere Motel on the 30 of May Avenue in the Capital.

The Chief of the National Police, Manuel Castro Castillo, said that they are waiting for the report from the National Institute of Forensic Pathology in order to determine the cause of death.

Cremation today

The remains of the journalist are at the Capilla A of the Blandino Funeral Home on Abraham Lincoln Ave.

According to what the Diario Libre has learned, the body will be cremated today at 11:30 a.m.

Miky Breton Case

In 2009, the producer of the program called "Relatos", Miky Breton, was found dead of stab wounds in several parts of his body, in room number 3 of the Princesa Motel, located on the 30 de Mayo Highway in the capital. For this crime, the Police arrested young 20 year old rapper Jean Luis Valdez Flores who confessed to murdering Breton over alleged "differences".
