Prosecutors asked for preventive custody against pilots who attempted to take an airplane

SANTO DOMINGO. The Tribunal of Permanent Attention of the province of Santo Domingo will hear today a request for preventive custody against four Venezuelan pilots and two Dominican technicians, accused of attempting to steal an aircraft at the Joaquin Balaguer Airport which had been seized from the executive of the Banco Peravia, José Luis Santoro.

The request by prosecutor José Miguel Cabrera was postponed yesterday for a hearing today, at 9:00 a.m.

The Justice Department wants to send to prison pilots Alexander Lira, Victor Daniel Alvarez Rincon, Armando José Gutierrez Gil, and Jorge Luis Yzghen Barrero, as well as the Dominican technicians Yanduel Andres Caraballo Cabrera and Manuel De Jesus Valdez Jiminian.

The accused were detained on Saturday at the air terminal, and are in the jail at the offices of the District Attorney of the province of Santo Domingo.

The Justice Department indicates that they tried to take the aircraft, which is why they traveled from Venezuela.
