Rejection of accusations against Martelly
The President of Haiti calls the accusations of corruption from DR "imaginative"

SANTO DOMINGO. Yesterday the Office of the President of Haiti called the accusations that tie President Michel Martelly to alleged acts of corruption related to the senator from San Juan de la Maguana, Felix Bautista, "fantasies, imaginative and unfair."
On the Martelly Twitter account, the Haitian Presidency "categorically" rejected the accusations against the chief of State, who has "been involved in a corruption case that implicated companies or personalities in the Dominican Republic."
The Haitian government "condemns without reservation the imaginative accusations unjustly leveled against the Chief of State in the framework of a report by the Dominican journalist Nuria Piera on Saturday 31 March 2012." This statement was issued over ten "tweets" on the Martelly account at the famous social network.
According to the journalist Piera, in a story transmitted on her program last Saturday, a group of companies are tied in with Senator Bautista and that, at the same time, have projects of the State.
In her research Piera indicates that funds handled by companies related to Bautista supposedly transferred money in 2011 to the then-candidate for the presidency of Haiti, Michel Martelly.
"The lynching in the media of the President of the Republic is part of a vast campaign of poisoning public opinion which seeks to sully the image of President Martelly and undermine his integrity," said the government communication.
The Presidency of Haiti indicated that "we are convinced also that this dramatic attack carried out against the person of the Chief of State is involved in an attack aimed at opposing the policy of change and modernization of the State which the President of the Republic has begun in the country."
