Search for 61 escaped felons
SANTO DOMINGO.- The Director General of Prisons released a gallery of photographs of 61 inmates that have escaped jail. These escapees are persons accused of murder, rape, drug trafficking and criminal association.

The largest number of fugitives are from the La Victoria Penitentiary. It was reported that 19 of the escapees are from there. The La Victoria Prison has around 4,000 inmates.

Next is the Najayo Prison that has a population of 3,000 inmates. Authorities say that 8 prisoners have escaped spectacularly from there and are being pursued.

The number of escapees from the Rafey-Hombres in Santiago was said to be 8 men who used different ways to escape.

The other fugitives are from Moca, San Francisco de Macoris, Higuey, Valverde, Elias Piña, Dajabon, Cotui, Bani, Kilometer 15 Azua, Nagua, Puerto Plata, Monte Plata, La Vega, Barahona, Santiago Rodriguez, and La Romana. Yesterday Joel Abad escaped from the latter when he was being taken to the A. Gonzalvo Hospital complaining of a pain.

The Director of Prisons, Manuel de Jesus Perez Sanchez, put the Search and Capture Unit in charge of rounding up the former inmates. The unit is a dependency of the office of the Attorney General.

One part of the escapees has been convicted to different sentences for drug trafficking, aggravates assault, and homicide, while others were in preventive custody.

The Director General of Prisons will reward anyone that communicates the whereabouts of any of the fugitives by calling 809 508 6128 or 809 633 3522, ext. 157.


The fugitives are Ramon Efrain Espinal Gruñon, Eliezer Matos de la Cruz, the Italian, Manuel Ippotiti, the Dutchman, Castel Stan Riemens, the Haitian Luima Santana Oguiso, Pedro Leonardo de la Cruz Tejada, Miguel Angel Rojas Alcantara, Yoel, Medrano Alcantara, Daniel Antonio Franco Arias, Carlos Tavera Alcantara, Santiago Batista Ramirez, Ramon Emilio Croussett, Juan Manuel Cuello Perez, Jose Manuel Saldaña Baez, Martin Polanco, hector Julio Abreu Bernabe, Juan Ramon Santana Castillo, Ricardo Antonio Muñoz, Perez, Idelfonso Clemente Mendoza and Juan Pablo Liriano Garcia.

Others that escaped are Leny Marte Valenzuela, Jose Guillermo Martinez Juan, Rafael Coronado Payano, Paco Perez Suriel, Claudio Benjamin Labour Novas, Hector Quezasa Vicente, Gilberto Ventura Ceballos, Eduardo Alcantara, Lebron, Hector Villegas Obispo, Oscar Rivera Silvestre, David Batista Ramon, Jose Arturo Lugo Gonzalez.

The list continues with Ignacio Martinez Moya, Hector Alexis, Espinal gonalez, Mario Melvin Suarez Espinal, Fausto Maria Hernandez, Leonel Paulino, Rafael Leonidas Amparo (Pata de Vaca), Alexander Encarnacion Encarnacion, Santo Suero Velazquez, Franklin Romero Mateo, Bonillas Mateo, Alfredo Rivera Batista, Rafael Alcantara y Alcantara, Adrian Montero Montero, Jose Peralta Amador, Pascual Alberto de la Rosa Pereyra, Ramon Cabrera Pimentel, Alfredo Rivera, Miguel Montero Herrera Batista, Francisco Adolfo Pieter, Wilson de los Santos, Jonathan Matian Sanchez, Tomas Miguel Espinal Martinez, Richard Manuel Martinez Mercado, Edgar Mayobanex Garcia Diaz, Ramon Roque Trinidad, Augusto Antonio Decena and Jose Luis Colon Serrano.
