Spain declares the Dominicans Don't Play gang to be illegal

MADRID. The Latino gang Dominicans Don't Play is an illicit association, according to a decree from the Supreme Tribunal of Spain in a sentence released yesterday.
This decision supposes the imposition of a similar categorization on other illegal gangs such as the Latin Kings or the Ñetas, and will consider it to be a crime to belong to any of them.
Nevertheless, and although belonging to the Dominicans , while an illicit association, is a crime, the tribunal absolved yesterday of this crime the defendants in the case which produced the sentence, but it does this because of a lack of evidence.
The tribunal recalled that, according to the Police, the case deals with the most dangerous Latino gang of those that operate at the present time n Spain and they compare them to the Ñetas and the Latin Kings they also mention the racist gang called Blood & Honor.
The sentence of the Supreme Tribunal responds to a case which the accused presented against the sentences issued by the Provincial Audience (court) of Madrid, that absolved several suspicious young men of belonging to this gang of illicit association, because there were not sufficient indications to consider the gang an illicit association, a criteria which the Supreme Tribunal corrected.
Now the high court indicated that the activities of the "D.D.P." as this 'tribe' are also known, are similar to the other Latino gangs which were already declared to be illicit, as well as the gangs cited.
The facts judged in the sentence released yesterday referred to a fight which occurred in a Madrid discotheque in 2008, with three persons being injured, The Provincial Audiencia of Madrid imposed minor sentences that were related only to the fighting by the defendants.
