He had been treated for pancreatic cancer in 2004 and had a liver transplant in 2009

LOS ANGELES. Steve Jobs, the founder of Apple and an icon who transformed the consumer habits of several generations with products such as the iPod, the iPhone, and the iPad, died yesterday at 56, according to the company.

Jobs was the CEO of Apple until the end of August when he resigned because he was not able to carry out his obligations and after eight months of medical leave. "The brilliance, the passion, and the energy of Steve were the source of innumerable innovations that enrich and improve our lives. The world is enormously better because of Steve," according to an Apple company communiqué.
