The Alianza Pais Party heads up an alternative proposal for a change of course
SANTO DOMINGO. After telling a group of editors that today in the Dominican Republic there is a great expression for change in the face of the PLD model of power, "which is characterized by the reign of corruption and impunity in the public activities," the president of the Alianza Pais Party (AlPais), Guillermo Moreno, told how he represents an alternative development proposal.

He said that he has been carrying out a fundamental effort, of establishing his proposal in order to give meaningful content to its political execution.

"In 1978 we also had a party which had around it other forces, that had social and economic leadership, that had the apparatus of the state and it had, let us say, the government kidnapped; it had the military power and used it in the repression of the opposition; it also had all the economic resources of that time in support of the proposal for reelection, but the people said that was enough," he noted.

He said that on that opportunity the popular will imposed itself, and the people played their part, voting for the change and that today we are going towards a very similar situation.

In his judgment, the people are fed up with the PLD model and what the governing party represents, because of that, the tendency is that they will express themselves in a massive manner for a change.

"We are advancing towards a similar situation, in which, and it is pure coincidence that it would be after 12 continuous years of the government of a single party, the same as in ‘78, and that after 12 years, it is a coincidence, but 12 years later the people are fed up with this model and what the governing party represents," he mentioned.

Moreno stressed that the constitutional reform which opens the way to the reelection of President Danilo Medina, will carry its consequences. "All this already has consequences and is going to continue bringing more consequences, to have stepped on the institutionalism once again, in the country this gives way to what it has produced, let us say, a sort of realignment of the political forces and the definition," he emphasized as he took part in Dialogo Libre which is sponsored by the Diario Libre newspaper, and is moderated by the director Adriano Miguel Tejada.

The president of the Alianza Pais said that the population rejects the official model "based on poverty, unemployment, a lack of security and corruption."
