The Coordinating Commission of the Assembly defines agenda
SANTO DOMINGO. The Coordinating Commission of the National Assembly met during the day yesterday in order to coordinate the agenda of the session which will be held next Saturday at 10:00 a.m. in order to deal with the reform of the Constitution.

Cristina Lizardo, the Senate President, reported that during the meeting the agenda was defined based on the con vocation which was implicit in the promulgation by the Executive Power of Law 24 - 15 which declares the need to reform article 124 of the Constitution in order to permit presidential reelection.

This law was approved on Tuesday in the Chamber of Deputies, which declared it to be urgent and carried out in two consecutive readings, obtaining the favorable vote of 149 of the total of 190 deputies. The Senate had already approved it by a unanimous vote a week before. A few hours after after dealing with the legislative proposal, the Lower Chamber sent the law to the Executive Power which immediately proceeded with its publication.

Today the official invitation to the legislators to assist the Assembly will be sent out, according to Lizardo. The Coordinating Commission of the National Assembly is the body called upon to define the spaces for socializing, communication and understanding between the legislative chambers, according to what is established in article 26 of the Regulations for the Functioning of the National Assembly and the Joint Meetings of the chambers. The commission is composed of the presidents and vice presidents of the Senate and the Chamber of Deputies, the secretaries and the spokesman of each one of the parties who have representation in the Congress.
