There are 3488 vehicles with natural gas in the DR
This month 4 new stations will be opened

SD. The rise of natural gas begins to be felt, although timidly. There are 3,488 vehicles moving around the country, including buses and trucks. And there are 18,000 public cars and more than 25,000 private and public buses running of LPG.
At the present time, the Ministry of Industry and Commerce has granted 87 licenses to operate natural gas plants and they have authorized 37 auto shops to install the conversions. However, the owners of the vehicles complain that the equipment costs between RD$65,000 and RD$75,000.
The government program to convert its fleet of vehicles to natural gas has yet to get started, and the arrangements for financing the Bono-Gas Natural program are still ongoing.
For this month there are four natural gas stations that will be inaugurated. One is located on Hermanas Mirabal in Villa Mella; it will open on 11 February. Another one is on the Las Americas highway at kilometer 22, the Parador del Mar, which will be opened on 25 February. On 28 February, a station will be opened on the Duarte Highway in Monsignor Nouel, and another at the corner of 27 de Febrero and 25th Street in Las Colinas, Santiago.
On 6 January the Isla Station of Charles De Gaulle, next to the Mella Highway was opened. There are also stations in operation on Independencia Avenue at the corner of Heroes de Luperon, in the National District; on Maximo Gomez in front of the cemetery and on John F. Kennedy near the corner of Nuñez de Caceres.
There is also a station on Las Americas that belongs to Linea Clave. There are two more that belong to Linea Clave and Soluciones de Gas Natural, in the compressor plants in Boca Chica. Al told there will be 11 stations by the end of the month where consumers of natural gas can fill up their tanks.
At the present time there are arrangements being made with the BabReservas to finance the Bono-Gas Natural, reported Salvador Rivas, the director of non-conventional energy at the Ministry of Industry and Commerce, when he was asked about the conversion plans of the administration.
The program of Bono-Gas Natural seeks to benefit the drivers that use the regular Bono-Gas, through financing by the BanReservas.
Regarding the number of vehicles with natural gas, there are 3.450 cars and SUVs, 9 buses that belong to OMSA, 24 that belong to Peravia Motors, two trucks from Leche Rica and one from Induveca and Plaza Lama.
