SANTO DOMINGO. The Superior Council of the Justice Department appointed Yenni Berenice Reynoso as the new District Attorney for the National District.

The Santiago DA substitutes Alejandro Moscoso Segarra who took his seat yesterday on the Supreme Court of Justice after being appointed by the National Council of Magistrates (CNM).

As interim District Attorney for Santiago, the Superior Council appointed via Resolution 009-11 Luisa Liranzo, until there is a competitive selection process which will select the new DA.

The decision was taken during a session, headed by the Attorney General Radhames Jimenez Peña, which started at 3:00 p.m. and ended after 5:50 in the afternoon. The definitive transfer of Reynoso to the capital was ordered by virtue of Article 47, number 5 of the Organic Law of the Justice Department

Liranzo, who is less than 30 years old, is a specialist in gender violence and is a trainer at the National School of the Justice Department.

Previously, Jose Dantes Diaz had been chosen as the first substitute of Moscoso Segarra, but he declined to take the position.

Reynoso occupied the District Attorney's office in Santiago since 7 September 2010 when she was chosen in a competitive selection process.

She substituted Raul Martinez who resigned to make his bid for a deputation for Santiago. He is not the provincial governor.
