AEIH worries over scarcity of raw materials
SANTO DOMINGO. The president of the Association of Industrial Enterprises of Herrera and the province of Santo Domingo (AEIH), Wadi Cano, warned that the national productive sector is facing serious challenges and threats due to the scarcity and price increases in the basic raw materials on the international market that, together with the exorbitant increase in the price of oil are synonymous with worry.
As he was interviewed by journalist Federico Mendez on the "Spheres of Power" (Esferas del Poder) program that is transmitted from 5 to 6 in the afternoon on Santo Domingo TV, he warned, moreover, that at the present world economic juncture, the businessmen cannot face paying more taxes.
Between the raw materials that have increased in price, he cited plastics, resins, soy and corn, and because of this nobody knows where the businesses and industries will be going. He said that the situation that the country is going through, due to both internal and external factors, is critical.
Cano said that this is the best moment to get the country pointed towards an increase in its production levels.
