Barack Obama shows his birth certificate
WASHINGTON. President Barack Obana presented yesterday his long-form birth certificate, issued by the state of Hawaii, with the hope of putting an end to the persistent rumors regarding his birth outside of the United States.
In a categorical answer to those who said differently, Obama said in a televised statement from the White House that "we do not have time for this kind of foolishness".
Obama circulated the short form of the document in 2008 in order to show that he was born in the United States and therefore fulfilled this constitutional requirement to be President, but the opposition that generated the debate, known as "birthers", was recently joined by a possible Republican presidential hopeful, Donald Trump.
