SANTO DOMINGO. The Chamber of Deputies declared the legislative proposal to create the Institute of Social Welfare of Overseas Dominicans (Inbidoex) to be urgent and approved it in two consecutive readings.
The Institute was created to support overseas Dominicans, through programs and social initiatives that permit the improvement of their quality of life, as well as promote projects that give incentives for their social and economic development.
The Inbidoex will be an autonomous, nonprofit organization with its own patrimony.
The hearing on the initiative took place during yesterday's session of the deputies, in which several government loans for different projects were also approved.
The deputies voted in favor of a US$150 million loan which the government signed with the Inter-American Development Bank (IADB) to finance the support program for the consolidation of the health sector and Social Security.
They also approved another credit agreement signed last March with the Deutsche Bank, and the Sociedad Anonima Española, for the sum of €49,259,113.00 (Euros), plus 85% of the provisional premium of the Spanish Export Credit Insurance Company (CESCE), destined to the turn-key project.
This project includes the construction, supply and installation of the water treatment plant for waste waters of the Ozama River, in the province of Santo Domingo and the National District, which will be carried out by the Santo Domingo Water and Sewer Corporation (CAASD).
