Claro take fiber optic technology into the home
The company invests US$50 million in the initial program
SD. With an initial investment of US$50 million, the Claro telecommunications company announced yesterday the expansion of its fiber optic network, which will allow them starting today to take the benefits of the latest technological advances into the homes of its customers.
The information was offered yesterday by Omar Acosta, the director of Marketing and Publicity for Claro and Virgilio Castillo, the director of new projects of data transmission for the company.
The company executives reported that with the new network that Claro will take into the home, the customers can do more on-line, at the same time and without interruptions, since they will have their hands on the latest technological advances.
Acosta said that the delivery of this service is a demonstration that the company is keeping faith with its commitment to bring to the country the advantages that are derived from the technological vanguard, with a constant program of evolution in its network that allows them to offer services and products in tune with the new times.
In its first phase, the service will be available in the Naco and Serrallés sectors and beginning on 1 April in Piantini, with an accelerated plan of expansion that will permit them to offer it to the principle sectors of Santo Domingo and Santiago in a short time.
The customers will have the option of acquiring the Multiplan package with Fiber Optics, with which that can enjoy a package of HD channels and Moviecity, with no additional cost, as well as seeing different channels in High Definition in each room at the same time and a high speed.
Castillo, for his part, explained that now the customers will have the capacity to connect all their equipment simultaneously without losing speed, be able to have high definition without limits and enjoy speeds of up to 100 Mbps on their Internet service, with which they can download a complete music album in a few seconds or share folders instantly with no worry over their size.
Fiber optics are very thin cables of a transparent, glass or plastic, which allow the transmission of information from one place to another.
