Congratulations to Diario Libre on its 12th anniversary
SANTO DOMINGO. Diario Libre reached the twelfth anniversary of its founding in the midst of congratulations from diverse institutions and the appeal from President Danilo Medina that it continue to make important contributions to informing as well as the orienting the Dominican people.
"From the first moment Diario Libre became a new communications media, which both it print version as well as its always updated digital version, contribute to the right of information of the citizenry and the strengthening of public liberties, whose preservation constitutes a serious commitment for the government," said the President in a letter sent to the director of the Diario Libre, Adriano Miguel Tejada.
Medina said in his letter that the occasion was favorable for expressing the most sincere and effusive congratulations in the name of the government and his own, while at the same time urging them "to continue as they have done until now, making important contributions to informing and guiding the Dominican people."
Vice-President Margarita Cedeño de Fernandez congratulated the newspaper yesterday afternoon through her Twitter account.
"Wholehearted congratulations @Diario Libre for reaching 12 years of life in Dominican journalism, a reason for pride in all of us."
"Your journalistic tenacity and the serious and ethical work make @Diario Libre an ally of democracy and freedom of the press."

Also, the Council of the Judicial Power extended its congratulations to DL and the chairman, Mariano German Mejia stressed the fact that the newspaper "gives us every day the information in a dynamic manner and always according to ethics and the truth of the incidents."
The congratulations were also joined by the chief magistrate of the Constitutional Tribunal, Milton Ray Guevara, who took advantage of the occasion to say that DL "has guaranteed a stern, pluralist, committed journalism, and a defender of the best interests of the nation."
For the Superior Electoral Tribunal, in the person of its chief magistrate Mariano Rodriguez Rijo, the message stressed the fact that DL "came into the history of the national press through the big door, not only for being the first free newspaper in the country, but also for its objectivity with the news."
For the Attorney General of the Republic, Francisco Dominguez Brito, the 12 years of existence of the DL "have been significant for its contributions to the national democratic system and to freedom of expression as well as for its efforts for establishing a stable nation in constant evolution."
At the same time the Minister of Foreign Relations, Carlos Morales Troncoso, said that he expected that Diario Libre will continue strongly as an innovative media, "as the result of the broad acceptance it has achieved, which insures praiseworthy levels of readership and penetration."
The chairman of the Central Electoral Board, Roberto Rosario joined in the congratulations and sent his message stressing the "plurality of its pages of opinion, the responsibility of its reports, the analytic depth and simple presentation in its Reading section, which are among other attributes, merits of incalculable value."
The director of ProIndustria, Alexandra Izquierdo, in her letter of congratulations stressed the fact that DL "does a job in adherence to the democratic, quality-laden and pluralism of its reports and continues to be an objective, democratic and participative media that always supports the young talent of our country."
Alejandro Montas, the CAASD director, said that at Diario Libre "the information flows like water, transparent, clean, fresh and always quenches the thirst for information of the thousands of readers that each day go through its pages."
In the meantime, the administrator of the Banco de Reservas, Vicente Bengoa Albizu, said in a letter that "the diversity of its content, its hot news, and an editorial line that is critical and responsible have made it possible for the Diario Libre to maintain an unquestionable leadership in the Dominican press, a position that each day is established in each sector of Dominican society."
The director general of the Dominican Institute of Civil Aviation (IDAC), Alejandro Herrera Rodriguez, also expressed his best wishes and praised the predominant role that DL has played "always fulfilling its role of reporting and guiding with moderation."
From the National Statistical Office (ONE), the director Pablo Tactuk, sent a message which noted the steady effort carried out by Diario Libre and its team, which "brings about the recognition and faithfulness of its readership."
The National Treasurer, Alberto Perdomo, extended his congratulations and at the same time said that DL "since its foundation became an important column in the fight for democracy and public freedoms, sticking to the truth and respecting the citizens."
