JCE suspends work all over the country because of Isaac

SANTO DOMINGO. The Central Electoral Board (JCE) announced the suspension of work for today in all o its offices around the country, as a preventive measure given the imminent passage of Tropical Storm Isaac over Dominican territory.

The measure is contained in a circular signed by the head of the JCE, Roberto Rosario, who called on the directors, departmental heads and the personnel in general of the election agency to take all of the preventive measures needed in their work areas in order to avoid damage to the equipment because of the storm.

The JCE and all of its offices, Civil Registration Offices, and the centers for "cédulas" will reopen next Monday 27 August.

In the circular, the official asked the public to excuse these inconveniences which might be causes by the closure.
