JCE to expand services for renewal of cédula
SANTO DOMINGO. The President of the Central Electoral Board (JCE) reported that he would begin, starting next week, a program of issuing cédulas to persons with serious health conditions or the elderly who find it impossible to go to the Centers for the Cédula in the country.
Roberto Rosario indicated, as he read a communiqué during a press conference at the JCE headquarters, that a specialized personnel from "our institution will go to the assistance to any citizen, free of charge, who for different physical impediments cannot travel themselves or be taken to the existing centers which issue the new document."
He explained that the service should be requested at the JCE by retirement homes, by health centers, hospitals, clinics and individuals. The requests will be attended in the order in which they are received and priority will be given to health centers and old age facilities.
ARS and ARL will provide services with the old cédula
The Superintendency of Health and Labor Risks (Sisalril) instructed the Administrators of Health Risks (ARS) and the Administrator of Labor Risks (ARL) to guarantee the authorizations of their affiliates of the services established in the Family Health Insurance (SFS) with the old identification and voter registration cédula.
In a circular addressed to the ARS and the ARL, the Sisalril recalled that, in accordance with what is established in Articles 60 and 61 of the Constitution, the access to Social Security and health are fundamental rights which the State is in the obligation to guarantee.
They said that under no circumstance can they deny affiliates access to health services, and therefore they call upon the administrative entities to channel their requirements of services in order that, in consequence, the Health Services Providers promptly and without problems grant the services contemplated in Law 87 - 01 and its complementary regulations.
