Judge orders prison for killers of Florian
SAN CRISTOBAL.- The judge for Instruction in San Cristobal, Ambiroiz Marichal, imposed an order for remand to custody for three months against National Police Captain Lino de Oca Jimenez and the Lieutenant Colonel Jose Antonio Pulinario Rodriguez, for their roles in the death of the inmate Rolando Florian Feliz during an incident that happened last 16 May in the Najayo Prison.
The magistrate accepted the request that came from the prosecutor and the lawyers representing the civil suit, Carlos Balcacer.
The arguments that supported the measures of coercion were based on the death of the drug trafficker, where the captain admitted that he shot with the sidearm that belonged to the colonel.
The lawyers for the defense of Pulinario Rodriguez and De Oca Jimenez are Juan Cotes Morales and Freddy Mateo Calderon.
Prisons
The Director of Prisons, Manuel de Jesus Perez Sanchez, defended retired General Garibaldi Castellanos, who was fired from his post as warden of the Najayo Prison as a result of the death on the inmate Rolando Florian Felez.
He said that Castellanos was at his job from 9:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. everyday, except for his day off which was Saturday. He told reporters that the warden has been replaced by Fabio Cabrera, who will be the new director of the prison. He dismissed the idea that the inmates of Najayo would protest the dismissal of Castellanos.
