Sisalril to intervene in conflicts between the ARS and Otorhinolaryngologists

The ENT specialists were pleas of ed with the invitation to talks

SANTO DOMINGO. Given the economic impasse which exists between the Dominican Society of Otorhinolaryngology (ENT specialists) and the representatives of the Health Risk Administrators (ARS) with the largest number of affiliates and which affects the affiliates of the Family Health Insurance (SFS) the Superintendent of Health and Labor Risks (Sisalril), Pedro Luis Castellanos, convene the representatives of the ENT specialists to a meeting to be held next first of July, in order to begin a formal conciliation process of the conflict.

Castellanos expressed his worry because the differences between the ARS and the ENTs have left the affiliates of the SFS without coverage of this specialized attention for a long period.

"We are going to try to conciliate among the parties, according to what is established in Law 87 - 01 which creates the Dominican System of Social Security, considering the interest of the doctors to improve their income, the adequate limits which guarantee the preservation of the sustainability of the SFS and, above all the interest of the affiliates and beneficiaries who are being affected," said Castellanos.

For his part, William Aude, the President of the Dominican Society of Otorhinolaryngologists, confirmed that he received the invitation and applauded the dialogue process.

He assured reporters that they tried to do this with the Dominican Association of Health Risk Administrators (ADARS), but it has been impossible.

ADARS told them that they do not have money to increase the payments per capita which very between RD$25,000 and RD$30,004 different procedures.

Nevertheless, Aude said that the ARS with the least amount of affiliates, did accept their contract terms which were that they pay between RD$50,000 and RD$70,000 for procedures and professional fees.

The executive President of the ADARS, José Manuel Vargas, gave as a condition in order to initiate talks, that the ENTs put aside their refusal of services.
