Sobeida Felix appeals to judge's sensitivity for her freedom

She proposes to pay the fine in three quarterly payments

SAN CRISTOBAL. The judge for the Execution of the Sentence for San Cristobal, Jose Ignacio Medrano, postponed until 4 January at 9:00 a.m., the hearing of a request for a parole in favor of Sobeida Felix Morel, who was the mistress of the Puerto Rican capo Jose David Figueroa Agosto.

The magistrate accepted a request from the defense lawyer, Felix Humberto Portes, so that the Justice Department can evaluate the agreement (plea bargain) and can establish a firm position after discussing with them and his delivery of the documentation that justify that the inmate has complied with the plea bargain made on 28 March 2011.

The deputy chief prosecutor for the Court, Faustino Pulinario, did not object to the suspension, alleging that he has not had access to the agreement in order to see the size of it.

The hearing began at 9:55 a.m., when Sobeida was taken there under strict security measures, what a bullet proof vest and helmet.

In her request for a parole, the inmate's defense lawyer suggests that since she has been in prison for two years and six months, she has served half of the time of her sentence.

Likewise, he said that there is evidence that she has fulfilled the requirements in order to opt for a parole and she has satisfactorily completed the courses of domestic cooking, candle making, hair dressing, goat and sheep raising, jewelry making, handling stress, motivation and working in teams, vegetable gardening and others.

Moreover, Portes presented a report by the prison authorities that evaluated her conduct and called it "very good" and they "specified that the inmate has not committed any disciplinary faults during her stay at the center."

The defense stresses that Felix Morel has two minor children, whose father was Eddie Brito, who reside in the United States, and they have not seen their mother in more than a year, ‘so that it could be traumatic for these minors to see their mother in a penal facility.'
