Sobeida had two more cell phones; admits she called F. Agosto
SANTO DOMINGO. Yesterday, the authorities seized two BlackBerrys that were in the possession of Sobeida Felix Morel, which raised the count to four phones in the hands of the inmate at Najayo-Women in a week.
The search, which also included the cell of Mary Pelaez Frappier, was carried out at 1:00 p.m. during an operation led by the prosecutor of the Court of San Cristobal, Jesus Fernandez Velez, and his deputy, Pedro Medina.
Diario Libre was the first in revealing the discovery of cell phones in the possession of Sobeida, something that the director of the new model prison, Roberto Santana, tried to deny when he was contacted last Friday.
Sobeida admitted before the treatment board that she had communicated several times with her lover, Jose David Figueroa Agosto, who is in jail in Puerto Rico, from her cell. Fernandez told Diario Libre that one of the cell phones was carried in by lawyer Sarah Lina Machado Balbuena, who is under arrest and today the prosecutor will request coercive measures for her in San Cristobal.
Another cell phone was found firmly strapped to a leg. "A VTP searched her, Sobeida lowered the pants so that she could see that there was nothing hidden but it was discovered that she had the cell phone taped to her right leg", said Velez. It is believed that the second cell phone was brought in by a son of the defendant. He reported that Sobeida's lawyer, Felix Humberto Portes recommended that Machado visit the inmate because she was his assistant, which he has denied, arguing that it was the defendant that authorized her visit.
