Ten finalists announced for Man and Woman of the Year Prize
SANTO DOMINGO. The selection jury for the Man and Woman of the Year 2014 Prize shows the 10 finalists - five men and five women who will opt for the grand prize.
The five male finalists are the member of the Baseball Hall of Fame and president of the foundation that bears his name, Pedro Martinez; the promoter of Love Me As I Am (Quiéreme Como Soy), businessman Oscar Villanueva; the cardiologist Victor Atallah; the promoter of community hydroelectric projects Alberto Sanchez; and businessmen Juan Oviedo of the Oviedo Foundation.
The five women finalists are the clinical psychologist Olga Altman, the philanthropist Maria Magdalena Rosario, the journalist Gianni Paulino, of the Wrinkled Hands Foundation (Manos Arrugadas), architect Maria Isabel Serulle, of the Pediatric Foundation for a Tomorrow, and the community worker at Sabana Grande de Boya, Rosalia Carvajal.

Next week, Diario Libre will hold a gala dinner to present the statue corresponding to the finalists and will publish a special front page of the newspaper with the winners.
With the awarding of this prize, which is been carried out since 2006, the first free newspaper in the country assumes the commitment to raise to the category of symbols, a man and a woman each year in order that Dominicans can be motivated to carry out altruistic work for the benefit of the Dominican Republic.
