Breton killed over disagreement in motel
SANTO DOMINGO. Jean Luis Valdez Flores (Wey Jam), the confessed killer of the television producer Juan Miguel Breton Mieses (Miky), told the National Police that a disagreement in room 3 of the Princesa Motel, located on the 30 de Mayo Highway, was the reason for the fight that ended up in the killing.
"These were immoral things, that we are asking the media to omit in order to preserve the moral of the Breton Mieses family", said Nelson Rosario, the spokesperson for the National Police, as he explained the circumstances of the killing.
According to the accused, the discrepancies over not fulfilling some of Breton's requests, turned into the fight that left the victim badly wounded. While Miky was bleeding in the room, Jean Luis, fearful for what could happen if the producer survived, went to get the knife that he had in his backpack in the KIA Sportage SUV, license G-203287, and with which he stabbed Breton two times: In the stomach and in the neck. Valdez Flores, 20, took flight in Breton's vehicle.
The prosecutor for the National District, Alejandro Moscoso Segarra, said that due to the nature of the crime, the accused would probably be sent to preventive prison for a year.
Between Miky and his killer there was a previous relationship, about which the Police preferred to omit details for the reasons expressed. Jean Luis was not tied to the case of the beating and robbery that the producer of "Relatos" was subjected to, two months ago in his home.
The rapper
Jean Luis, or "Wey Jam", is known in San Cristobal as part of the rap group Sociedad 315. On the You Tube website, there are videos of the songs "Si no soy nadie" and "Tamo en calle" in which the rapper talks of the use of marijuana, machete fights, dog fights, and the use of firearms.
He was handed over to the authorities last Monday evening by his stepmother, Yolanda Acosta Rosario, in the province of La Vega. The stepmother gave Jean Luis to Captain Gregorio Betances Rosario, the assistant to the director of the Central Cibao Regional office of the National Police.
On Monday, Jean Luis' brother, Luiggie Geovanny Valdez Flores, 22, and Edison Cabrera Araujo, 24, were picked up by the Police for questioning.
The producer Miky Breton was found dead on Sunday night in the Princesa Motel in Santo Domingo. The body showed signs of blows from a heavy object and wounds from a knife.
Miky's funeral
The television producer was buried yesterday at 12:22 in the cemetery on Maximo Gomez. Television personalities showed their support for Breton's family. The actor Carlos Espinal read the eulogy, Angel Villalong sang "Cuando un amigo se va", Victor Erarte provided some portable music equipment to play the song "Maravilloso Corazon", and figures such as Nuria Piera, Tony Raful and Giovanny Cruz accompanied the family.
