Congratulations for the 9 years of Diario Libre

SANTO DOMINGO. Today the Diario Libre reaches its Ninth Anniversary. In 2001 it was born as the first free newspaper in the country. The President, Leonel Fernandez, has been one of the first to congratulate this media as he recognized "the place of honor" and the "relevant position among the communication media in our country and America" of this product of the Omnimedia Company.

Diario Libre is number one in readership of print newspapers and in its format for the Metro riders of Santo Domingo, maintaining an important position in the lives of each one of so many Dominicans and foreigners who find in it an obligatory reading due to its complete, direct and objective coverage of events and its shaping of debates and opinions.

"It is agreeable to confirm that the newspaper carries out the practice of democratic, respectful and far reaching journalism, through which it strengthens our institutions, promotes education, stimulates the culture and pushed the development of the population", says the President of the Republic in a letter addressed to the editor of the Diario Libre, Adriano Miguel Tejada.


Another person who joins the many congratulations was the Minister for the Administration of the Presidency, Luis Manuel Bonetti, who exalted the fact that "in all of this time, the Diario Libre has been the firm exponent of the democratic principles which underlie the country and a consistent and constructive critic of the public policies within the framework of freedom of expression".


The Attorney General, Radhames Jimenez, praises the technological advances that have been advanced by the Diario Libre. The chief justice of the Supreme Court, Jorge Subero Isa, underlines the role of journalists and writers that make possible our content.

The Chancellor, Carlos Morales, emphasizes his admiration for the "agility and easy reading" of the articles. The ambassador from Ecuador, Carlos Lopez Damm, points out the modern presentation and the quality reporting.

Other congratulations came from the PLD leader Danilo Medina; Jose Tomas Perez, the director of the Dominican Civil Aviation Institute; the Minister of Tourism, Francisco Javier Garcia; Mabel Feliz, the head of the National Council on Drugs; the Cemex Dominicana Company, the Administrator of Labor Risks and Health (Sisalril) and the Regional Development Council among others.

Diario Libre revolutionized the manner of reporting

The motto of this media, "Diario Libre, complete and free" has not been an empty one. Since it is just one piece and four sections, with a full color design and high visual impact, we insure complete readership. Each morning, from Monday to Saturday, more than 112,000 copies are distributed to homes and distribution points in Santo Domingo and the main cities of the provinces. This circulation has been audited by the Institute of Circulation Cerification. With its different offerings of Informativo Diario Libre, Diario Libre Metro, Plaza Libre, Auto Libre, the magazine "Estilos", and the usage of Cli2c technology, the Diario Libre has changed the way news is reported in the country.
