Diario Libre is also a leader on Twitter

SD. Diario Libre is the newspaper with the most followers on Twitter in the Caribbean, and occupies the 19th position on the list of newspapers with the greatest number of followers in Latin America, according to a publication issued by the blog "Journalism in the Americas." In the Caribbean region, Diario Libre is the first, followed by the Nuevo Dia in Puerto Rico.

At the moment the survey was carried out, @DiarioLibre had 132.803 followers, but yesterday afternoon the number had climbed to 141,960.

The Twitter ranking was reported by the website 4 International Media & Newspapers which says that the majority of the newspapers with more than 100,000 followers are located in South America and two in the Caribbean, which are the Diario Libre of the Dominican Republic and the Nuevo Dia in Puerto Rico. None of the newspapers in Central America are among the first 25.

The social network of the 140 characters has become a source of news which generates debates among users and it expects to continue its expansion in order to increase the collaborative manner in which it practices journalism.

Diario Libre updates its stories both in its digital edition as well as on Twitter, Facebook and cell phones during the whole day, in tune with its commitment to its readers.
