Eighteen members of Quirino?s family to leave

Eighteen members of the family of former Army captain Quierino Ernesto Paulino Castillo, that are under special protection, are on the passenger list to leave the country tomorrow for the United States after fulfilling the procedure tat begins to take better shape today after the full reading of the sentence that orders the definite halt to the proceeding against them.

This morning at 10:00 o’clock, the First Collegiate Tribunal of the Court of First instance for the national District has cited Quirino’s brother, Quirilio Paulino Castillo (Danilo), Zaira Castillo Ramirez, (mother), Anderson Paulino Ubri (son), Luis Marmolejos Feliz, Felicita Consuelo Medrano Mercedes, Elba Feliz Matos, Ricardo Encarnacion Castillo and Diomaris Marmolejos, the mother of several children by Quirino. 

The court will hand down its final decision that contains the arguments that it accepted to retire the accusations on money laundering the sum of RD$400 million that were pending against the accused. 

According to reports, there are 18 members of the family that will be leaving the country with their visas. 

The authorities are trying to repair the visa status of Belkis Elizabeth Ubri Medrano, Quirino’s wife. As the scandal broke, her visa was cancelled and authorities are working to have it reinstated. 

Ubri Medrano is appealing the conviction and five year sentence for laundering assets. 

The case is before the Second Court of the Penal Chamber of the Appeals Court. According to reports, Quirino’s mother, Zaira Castillo Ramirez, his brother Quirilio Paulino, his son Anderson Paulino Ubri and the mother of several of his children, Diomaris Marmolejos have never had their visas taken away and have travelled to see the alleged drug kingpin in the United States.
