President appoints Fidias Aristy to CND
Appointment confirms that there was a deal so that he declined his aspirations
SD. President Leonel Fernandez appointed last night the former secretary general of the Dominican Municipal League, Fidias Aristy, as the new president of the National Drug Council (CND) in substitution for Mabel Feliz Baez who was selected as a judge of the Superior Electoral Tribunal.
The appointment of the Reformist leader is contained in the Decree 27-12 issued by the President yesterday.
Aristy was the secretary general of the LMD, until last 26 January, the day that the Assembly of Municipalities of the organization elected Johnny Jones, who is also a leading member of the Reformist Party, as its new leader.
The appointment of Aristy came about as part of a political agreement, in exchange for his declining to seek re-election to his post at the LMD.
