The Executive Power convened yesterday the extraordinary legislature
They could vote on the Constitutional Tribunal; the legislature will go until 17 February
SD. The Executive Power, by decree 1-11, called the legislature into an extraordinary session yesterday. The decree calls both the Senate and the Chamber of Deputies into session, after the ordinary session ended last Wednesday.
The decree that becomes the first one issued by President Leonel Fernandez this year, established that the new legislative session will go from the 17 January until next 17 February.
The convocation of the legislators was sent to the presidents of the Senate and the Chamber of Deputies for their action according to article two of the official decree.
Congress
The Congress will restart its session next week, after the extraordinary summons by the Executive Branch, in order to deal with pending legislation that has deadlines in the coming days.
The Chamber of Deputies will session next Tuesday in order to deal with the legislative proposal of the Organic Law of the Superior Electoral Tribunal, a bill that will be passed urgently by this chamber.
The deputies will approve the legislation that says that the Tribunal will be composed of five judges and the send the bill back to the Senate who will hear the proposal on Wednesday.
The number of members that will make up the electoral court was what kept the Congress from passing the legislation during the ordinary legislature that ended last Wednesday.
