The US Embassy opens its visa center in Galeria 360

SANTO DOMINGO. The new Visa Attention Center of the United States Embassy in this country is open since yesterday. It is located in the Galeria 360 mall on John F Kennedy Avenue.

The center will work from Monday to Friday from 7:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m., and on Sundays from 12 noon until 4:00 p.m. It will not be open on Saturdays.

With the opening of this installation, the ambassador of the United States, James W Brewster, explained that this is not a new consulate, since the consular offices will continue interviewing the applicants, reviewing all the cases, and taking the necessary decisions for the approval of visas from the consular section of the Embassy, located on the Jacobo Majluta Avenue.

"What the Visa Attention Center will do is make the process of applying for a visa a lot easier for the tens of thousands of Dominicans that apply every year," he added, before cutting the tape that opened of the office. Immediately various applicants (cited before hand) were attended. One of them was Altagracia Castro, who appreciated the strategic location of the center.

Residence applications also

"Today all of the people who apply for a nonimmigrant visa, who desire to travel to the United States, can begin to use the Visa Attention Center. Beginning on 1 January, the applicants for immigrant visas who are in the process of obtaining their residence visa can also use the services of the center," described Ambassador Brewster.

Likewise, he said that by the end of 2015 they expect that more than 140,000 applicants will have gone through this center. He reported that upon reaching this location, the applicants will save between US $25 and US$50 in photographic services, in making the appointments, for the delivery and the client support services.

At the present time, visa applicants pay a fee of US$160 in the Banco Popular. This amount covers the cost of the appointments, the client services and the delivery service of the passport.
